Barbara (Dell) Fisher
Oct. 14, 1932 – Jan. 3, 2026

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wonderful loving mother and grandmother, Barbara Dell Fisher (nee: Tyrrell), who passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2026.

Dell was born in Elk Point, Alta., and grew up in several logging camps in British Columbia during WWII. The family returned to Alberta when Dell was a young adult, and shortly thereafter, she met and married Louie Fisher in 1953. In 1961, as a young couple with four children — Karen, Kim, Stuart and Barbara — Dell and Louie moved to a farm in the Arbutus area, built a home from the logs on the farm, cleared the land for hay, and began a small cow/calf operation.

They very soon established strong roots in the community, made lifelong friends, and ultimately completed the family with two more children — Jane and Murray. On their retirement, Dell and Louie moved to an acreage on the farm in 1990, where Dell resided for the rest of her life.

Dell was predeceased in 2011 by her loving husband of 58 years, Louie Fisher; parents Leonard Tyrrell (1981) and Edna Tyrrell (1994); brother Jack Tyrrell (2008); grandson Rory Medin (2008); and great-grandson Jayden Evans (2020).

Dell is survived by her six children: Karen (Earl) Medin; Kim (Calvin) Randall; Stuart (Frances) Fisher; Barbara (Richard) Artzen; Jane (Kirby) Muyres; Murray (Corrina) Fisher; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two honourary grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, followed by a light lunch. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Barbara Dell Fisher’s name to STARS Air Ambulance.

Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium is entrusted with the arrangements.
