Darlene Joan Pinkney
Nov. 12, 1944 – Sept. 14, 2026

Darlene lived a life rooted in faith, family, love and gratitude. For 61 years, she shared life’s joys, challenges and adventures with her loving husband, Don. Together they built a family that was always the centre of her world and her greatest blessing.

A devoted mother to Donna (Rob) Noble, Bonnie (Ole) Stearns and Rob (Ellen) Pinkney, Darlene was a constant source of love, encouragement and unwavering support. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She often spoke of them as among life’s greatest gifts and was grateful for every moment shared with them.

Darlene shared a close relationship with her siblings Al (Jean) Kowalski, Joyce Atkinson, Virginia (Gary) Steffen, brother-in-law Wayne (Pat) Pinkney and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Darlene will be remembered for her generous spirit, quiet strength, determination, sense of humour, deep faith, and her ability to make people feel welcomed, valued and loved. Darlene’s passing leaves a void beyond measure, but the love she shared, the faith she lived and the family she nurtured will continue to guide and inspire us. We are all profoundly blessed and richer for having had her in our lives.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Konynenbelt, Dr. Prajapati, the staff of Unit 32, and the compassionate team at the Red Deer Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support shown to Darlene and her family. Their dedication brought comfort during a difficult time and will never be forgotten.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held for Darlene on Oct. 3, 2026, at St. Mary’s Parish, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alta., at 11 a.m. The family invites you to join them for a light lunch in the Parish Hall following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society.
