Richard Sr. (Rick) Stewart, born on Sept. 26, 1953, passed away on May 6, 2026, after a long battle with illness.

Rick is predeceased by both his parents, his first wife (Diane) and two sons – Shane and Calen, and by his second wife (Peggy). He is survived by his three children – Richard Jr., Will (Erin) their two sons Colin and Caleb; and Colleen (Paul) and her three children – Dustin, Emery and Faith; and Peggy’s children – Robbie, Kevin (Missy) and their children – McKenzie, Presley and Kailey.

Rick was a long-standing, and impactful member of both the Alberta Forest Service, through to its evolution as Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, as well as the Canadian Armed Forces Cadet Instructor Cadre serving as Commanding Officer of the Sea Cadet Corps RCSCC 198 Yukon in Rocky Mountain House for many years.

A celebration of life for Rick, as well as Diane and oldest son Shane will be held on Aug. 8, 2026, at the Dovercourt Hall from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by their inurnment to a family plot at Sundre Cemetery at 4 p.m. All are welcome to both events.

The hall is located about 25 km south of Rocky Mountain House on Hwy. 22 and Sundre Cemetery is another 40 minutes further down Hwy. 22.
